Sustainability
The great challenge of our times. Our contribution is a continuous effort to improve our practices day by day, staying ahead of government standards and encouraging our suppliers and guests to take action.
Sustainable Facilities
- Latest-generation boiler for improved hot water management.
- Smart air conditioning system.
- Low-energy light bulbs.
- Showers installed in 100% of our rooms.
Sustainable Products and Practices
- Greater use of locally sourced food products (Km0).
- Purchasing electricity from companies that supply us with 100% renewable energy.
- Eco-friendly items such as biodegradable straws and cups.
- Bulk purchasing of certain products such as sugar, avoiding individual plastic packaging.
- Waste management through recycling (glass, paper, oils, plastics).
- Use of vinegar and lemon in some of our cleaning practices.
- Encouraging our guests to reuse towels for an additional day and to use water responsibly.
- Replacement of single-use amenities with high-quality bulk soaps and shampoos.
- Installation of an osmotic water fountain (free service) to stop selling plastic water bottles, together with an ongoing campaign encouraging guests to bring reusable water bottles from home.
Ethics
- We provide equal opportunities to everyone who wishes to become part of our team. We do not discriminate based on age, gender, origin, religion, or disability. On the contrary, diversity is welcomed, enriches us, and gives us greater human resources to better serve our guests.
- All members of our team are legally insured and receive working schedules that allow for a healthier balance between work and leisure, within a safe environment.
- We promote human relationships through a higher employee-to-guest ratio, allowing more time for meaningful social interactions to take place.
- At Hostal Rom, we allocate 1% of online reservations made through this website to NGOs.
We encourage our guests to continue sending us feedback about our services, as well as our sustainable practices, so that we can continue improving. All of the above ultimately represents progress for all of us.
GREEN ROSES Certificate
Created with the aim of guiding and encouraging local businesses to adopt sustainable practices.
This is something difficult to achieve through larger global certifications due to their high costs, which are impossible to finance for businesses operating within the highly seasonal environment of Roses.
GREEN ROSES first requires compliance with current government regulations. It then promotes an attitude of continuous improvement, focusing initially on “high-impact, low-investment” actions, followed by further steps leading to medium and long-term planning.
EUROPARC: we have been members since 2025 through our collaboration with the Cap de Creus Natural Park.
